Our Cylindrical Quartz Crucible (also known as Straight-Sided Quartz Crucible) is manufactured from high-purity quartz glass, specifically 99.99% Silicon Dioxide (4N grade fused quartz).
These crucibles are primarily designed for handling, heating, melting, or igniting substances under high-temperature conditions. They are perfectly suited for laboratory experiments that require high-temperature heating, melting, or fusion of various materials, including metals, non-metals, glass, and salts.
They are particularly essential for constant weight determination in gravimetric analysis. Due to the outstanding thermal stability and chemical inertness of our high-purity quartz crucibles, their mass remains remarkably stable even after repeated ignition and weighing cycles, ensuring a minimal impact on your experimental results and contributing to the accuracy of quantitative analysis.
Moreover, the high-purity quartz material is chemically inert, making it the most suitable high-temperature crucible material for analyses requiring high-purity results, such as trace element analysis or the preparation of high-purity materials, as it will not contaminate your samples. Its high transparency allows for convenient observation of the sample’s experimental state. High-purity quartz crucibles offer excellent resistance to most acids and alkalis, with the primary exceptions being hydrofluoric acid (HF) and hot phosphoric acid above 300°C.
This cylindrical (straight-sided) crucible design provides a larger internal volume to accommodate more sample material. The flat bottom design ensures greater stability when placed on muffle furnace hearth plates, heating plates, laboratory benches, or balance pans, making it less prone to tipping. The wide opening and base facilitate easier sample loading and retrieval, and enable more stable gripping and manipulation with crucible tongs. The straight cylindrical shape promotes more even heating of the sample, perfectly meeting the demands of high-temperature experiments.
This quartz crucible features high transmittance, including excellent UV transparency. The exceptionally flat bottom and high-transmittance lid make it ideal for applications such as photocatalytic reactions and other experiments requiring specific optical properties.
For applications demanding optical observation or spectroscopic analysis, we offer the option to weld a cold-polished quartz sheet onto the bottom. This customization allows our crucibles to meet the requirements of various experimental scenarios, serving as a versatile high-purity quartz container with advanced optical features.
